NOS terugroepactie, mankementen met NOS
NOS Small Bottle (10 oz to 2.5 lb.) Safety Recall Notice
1/6/2007 Bowling Green, KY--This notice is in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. REASON FOR THIS RECALL: Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) has been informed by Cramer Decker Industries that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain burst discs that were inadvertently installed in Bottle Valves for nitrous oxide systems used on motorcycles, ATV’s, personal watercraft, Sneaky Pete systems, and certain other automotive kits that use small bottles (10 oz. to 2.5 lb.). All of the below listed kits and related accessories are sold and distributed under the NOS brad name. This decision was made based on information provided to us by Cramer Decker Industries. The incorrect burst discs were installed in Bottle Valves commonly used on small nitrous bottles (10 oz. to 2.5 lb.). While the incorrect disc does not pose an immediate danger if the Bottle is used in a manner consistent with nitrous refilling procedures and use, the combination of overfilling a Bottle and exposing the Bottle to high temperatures may cause the Bottle pressure to exceed the safe working limits of the Bottle resulting in Bottle failure (bursting). Because the defective Bottle can burst, the defect can cause injury without prior warning. Attached is a full listing of all affected part numbers manufactured by NOS. All Bottle valves, whether sold in kit form, assembled to bottles or purchased individually, along with replacement burst discs purchased separately that were purchased from NOS from February 1, 2006 thru November 1, 2006 are subject to this recall. WHAT WE WILL DO: We are currently working with our suppliers and retailers to coordinate the return and repair of the defective products. If you are currently in possession of any of the listed defective products, we will be happy to repair them at no charge. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Please contact the Customer Service Department @ 1-800-638-0032 for a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number and return instructions. Any product containing Bottle valve s for small bottles purchased within the affected date range (February 1, 2006 thru November 1, 2006) should be returned immediately for free replacement of the burst discs. If you are still not able to have the safety defect remedied without charge and within a reasonable time, you may wish to write the Admisistrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street, SW, Washington, DC 20590, call the Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov. |
