dellorto phbh28 problems..?

hi,

I am trying to set up a dellorto phbh28 on a gilera runner 172cc, but when i turn the engine over petrol comes out of both 'overflow' nipples on the carb? why would this be happening? the float is fine also?

any info greatly appreciated!

Well, that either means the float isn't really closing the fuel-inlet or the fuel is being pumped into the carb under pressure.

i checked the float again and it seems the bowl would not stop filling? fixed now! but now it is running again it seems to have a sort of missfire (splutters) when you pull away from standstill? from about 20mph it is fine, only when you pull of from standstill? what could cause this? mabie lighter rollers needed?

Missfire/stuttering is usually a carburettor or iginition problem.

Does it sound like it runs to lean?

But the carb gives me only headache and problems

Im not sure what you mean, but the spark plug is a dry grey sort of colour? also my carb settings are main jet 110, idle mix 3 1/2 turns out, needle one below top 'notch'. you think i could be running too lean/rich?

If the spark plug is grey-ish you're probably running too lean.
Does it happen when you only give a little throttle (say 1/4 to 1/2 max).

It should look something like the one in the middle of this picture:

It is fine when you give it 1/4 or 1/2 throttle, only splutters when its full?

With splutter you mean it sounds like it four-stroking?
